Free and Open Source Software Learning Centre (FOSSLC)

Free and Open Source Software Learning Centre (FOSSLC) was founded in Ottawa in 2008 by Andrew Ross. Andrew was looking for a quick way to extend the reach of the very successful local open source events, let others view the sessions on-demand and extend the community. Videotelephony provided a recording and publishing platform, the on-site audio and video equipment and crew, and transferred the know-how to FOSSLC.

This seed strategy and a global perspective has allowed FOSSLC to grow quickly and globally.

Since 2008, FOSSLC has continued to grow. FOSSLC has now held dozens of events around the world. The videos served by FOSSLC have been viewed over 100,000 times. And web traffic to FOSSLC’s site has passed 1/2 Million visitors per year – doubling roughly every 6 months.

In 2009, FOSSLC incorporated as a non-profit organization and began establishing local chapters.
