2012: The Year of Online Video Marketing-What's in a Viral Video?
Online video marketing has been a buzz term this year for companies, large and small
What do maxi pads, a South Korean version of Mitt Romney and a bunch of adorable characters dying horrible deaths have in common? Raise your hand if you’re one of at least 32 million people who know what the answer to this riddle is. This odd little mix makes up some of the most viewed YouTube videos of this year (I’ll toss the links in below so everyone who reads this can add 1 to the viewer count). So having looked at that, is it really...
What we can really stand behind is a project that helps new-comers to Canada. Our launch video for In-Tac Ottawa got us thinking about this.
Our latest project, a launch video for In-Tac Ottawa got us thinking about this. As an entrepreneurial organization made up of first and second generation immigrants, we'd like to dedicate this post to talking about the importance of employment opportunities for foreign born Canadian residents. International talent for jobs in Canada is something we know well from working in multicultural Ottawa.
Every year since 2001, Ottawa has become the home of 240,000...
We all know how important fitness and exercise are to the human body, but how often do we think of the brain as another part you need to work out?
Only recently has brain fitness taken a spotlight in the media and become a hot topic in neuroscience. So what does this have to do with our video productions company? One of our clients is Nicole Scheidl, CEO of Fit Minds. This organization works with people suffering from forms of dementia such as Alzheimer’s, as well as other diseases affecting the brain.
Nicole sees herself as a cognitive coach or fitness trainer helping...
Sticking Around with the Boom Pole- A snapshot of working from Videotelephony's Marketing Manager
Before I joined the Videotelephony team I didn’t know much about the world of video productions or the people behind them. This was back in the naïve days when I thought closed captioning was an easy task and a 30-second commercial could be shot in 15 minutes. Turns out I had no idea what I was walking in to.
My first lesson was in the art of holding a boom pole (which is basically a microphone on a stick).
While this might look easy, it actually takes someone with the build of the Old Spice...
At Videotelephony we like to think that we’re pretty smooth.
The pun is intended here and you’ll see why. When we partnered up with Nick May who created Remay Vanilla Shower Time we knew we wanted to show how smooth one could get by using it, leg smooth that is. Vanilla Shower Time is an alternative to the traditional shaving cream and rolls on kind of like a deodorant stick.
The stick itself is filled with moisturizers and is pleasantly scented. We were able to try a sample before the shoot and we LOVE it!
Our two actresses for the commercial, who had never met before, Faye Rowland...
Volunteering Video Services to Camp Quality
This is how is starts…
Two people are about to embark on a journey that will change them forever.
When you arrive at camp you have to get a lice check; nothing feels nicer. I love lice check, and it only gets better after that. Such a simple task…the running of the sticks through your hair, checking for the dreaded eggs. Yes, if they found anything I would be mortified, but thus far I’ve been spared.

Videotelephony Video Shooting for Fit Minds
Last week Videotelephony had the pleasure of shooting with a wonderful woman named Stephanie. We were working on a shoot for Fit Minds which offers cognitive health products to those suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The story that Stephanie told was a sad and beautiful one about her mother. Stephanie described to us what she went through as a caregiver and what her mother went through as well. As difficult as it was at times to talk about, the importance of understanding Alzheimzer’s and Dementia and what we all can do to prevent as well...
Nick May is a young entrepreneur on the road to success
Ready, set, SHAVE!
Videotelephony is extremely excited to announce their latest project. Working with a talented crew, Prentice Media and the inventor of Remay Vanilla Shower Time, Nick May, we created a commercial that we hope will win the 2012 Business Development Bank of Canada ( BDC) competition for Young Entrepreneurs.
Contest Details here!
You may be wondering what Remay Vanilla Shower Time is. It's a product that helps women shave faster in the shower. Instead of foaming, the solid can be rubbed on the leg creating...
Snip snip snip.
On March 3rd I gave my hair away to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
Hair donation is an amazing feeling. To make a much needed wig for women who are struggling with losing their hair due to cancer treatment is something that anyone who can do, should do! To know a wig will be made out of your hair that's going to grow back on you anyway is a wonderful thing.
The adjustment is a little difficult but it's coming along. It's hard to go from having your hair to keep your neck warm to it not it touching the collarbone. Just imagine losing a whole 10 inches in one hair donation! I...
The OCCSC stands for Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre.
What it does is create business growth by helping match Chinese and other immigrants in Canada with appropriate jobs to their skillset and generally aids them through their first years in the country, making it a smoother transition.
Currently newcomers from 56 countries are using the OCCSC to help them get Canadian job training. We're all for it as we think this country runs on the power of diversity and variety. It is also extremely important in this day and age to be able to work in international teams. Name me one business that...
